Husband & Father

First and foremost I am a husband and father. I get stressed and tired like most people do. I practice meditation daily to help me be aware and manage all my emotions so I can live a happy life.

Mindfulness

Struggling with my emotional well-being because of working 16 hour days, stressed, and mentally overworked, I found mindfulness. Mindfulness is about being aware of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Mindfulness Enhances Your Life

Research shows that a regular mindfulness practice has potential to lower your blood pressure, decrease physical pain, and improve sleep. It has also shown to improve your mental health. Mindfulness has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression in adults. It can bring us more energy and enthusiasm for life strengthening our relationships. It improves our ability to have compassion and how to feel and show empathy for others, resolve conflicts nonviolently, and maintain positive relationships. In the workplace and the classroom, mindfulness helps us to think creatively, set and achieve positive goals, and overcome obstacles to succeed.

Educator

I have been an educator since 2004 working with kids from grades K-12. I have joys and struggles every day. I have learned how to make mindfulness a part of my classroom culture making it a better place to learn and grow.

Insight Minds

I started Insight Minds in 2015 because I saw a need outside of the classroom. I wanted to help families and communities live life more meaningfully.

Meditator

I began my meditation practice in 2012 from desperation. I have been to multiple retreats at Blue Cliff Monastery with Buddhist Monks under the teachings of Thich Naht Hanh. There I received the Five Mindfulness Trainings and Wake Up Schools Level I Training.

Learner

I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in education and clinical & counseling psychology respectively. I have been trained in mindfulness programs from Dr. Amy Saltzman and Dr. Kristen Race, leading mindfulness researchers and authors.

Speaker

I have presented on the topics of mindfulness, social-emotional learning, and leadership both regionally and nationally. I have worked with adolescents, parents, school districts, and international organizations.

Mindfulness

I began teaching educators about mindfulness in 2015 for school districts and graduate classes through Neumann University. I also work with families to help build healthy and happier homes.
