Creating mindful awareness in the classroom can be a smooth process without taking time away from academic instruction. Attendees will learn what mindfulness is, how to begin a mindfulness practice, and implementing practices with their students. We will discuss the neuroscience and research on mindfulness for adults and youth, as well as how to share practices with parents. Attendees will also be introduced to a classroom toolkit that includes “Chill Skills” and Mindful Movement practices they can incorporate into their classroom culture. The goal of the workshop is to help teachers and students bring awareness to how they think about, understand, and manage their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors so they can flourish in and out of the classroom.
